Million Paws Walk is a once-a-year fundraising event organised by RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Walks are held nationally. Many suburbs host their local walks, so you can attend it close to your home! This year it will be on 20 May.
It’s a fun day for any animal lover. Even if you are not a pet owner, or you don’t have a dog to walk with (we have not seen any cats on leash!), come and enjoy. The main purpose of the event is raising funds, so every participant counts. Along with the walk, there will be entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and other activities.
According to RSPCA, funds raised through entry fees, online fundraising and the sale of merchandise help assist the RSPCA to operate its animal shelters, support its Inspectorate services and provide community education on animal welfare issues. 144,000 animals find shelter at the RSPCA annually.
Taking part in the Million Paws Walk is a great way to help animals in need. Each year, the RSPCA in Australia investigates more than 43,000 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect.
Take your four- and two-legged friends, come along and have fun!
