Barbarella Buchner married to her two 14-year-old male cats Spider and Lugosi on January 9, 2004. She says she has never been happier.
48-year-old former Londoner, now living in a Spanish island Lanzarote, has been married to her cats from more than 10 years.
Since she can remember, Barbarella has always been a cat lover surrounded by cats.
She was in a seven-year relationship with her human boyfriend, but the relationship were not light at the end, so they separated.
The cat lady calls cats Spider and Lugosi her soul mates. She stresses that they are not partners and there are no intimate relations in their marriage.

Before adopting the cats, Barbarella got prepared and looked up the information on the Internet, like if she was preparing for having a child.
Years of living surrounded by pets, and thanks to her parents, taught her responsibility and respect for cats.
When Barbarella visited a London’s shelter to adopt a cat, two male cats Lugosi and Spider got her sight.
“They were rubbing themselves against the mesh and purring. It was all over – I knew I wanted those cats. I could tell the feeling of love was mutual judging by their purrs and the way they were brushing their little faces against the inside of their cage. These two tabby brothers were coming home with me.”, says the cat loving web designer.
Later the cats helped her to overcome anxiety and sadness of going through the painful separation with her human boyfriend.
“I would cry into Lugosi’s and Spider’s fur. They were on the sofa with me all the time and I felt calm.”
“I have loved and lived with a couple of partners before but I realised that my love for my fur babies is so much deeper than anything I have felt for a human.”
Three years later after adopting the cats, Barbarella tied a knot at marryyourpet.com, which sent her a marriage certificated for a fee.
Happily married ever since, the cat lady has never looked back and is still quite happy with her two cat husbands.
“My family think I’m raving mad but accept it.”
