My friend fell head over heels in love… with cats when she was a little girl. You will be amazed by the lengths she would go to make her kitty feel special and pampered. One of her recent purchases piqued my interest and raised my fancy to find out more about it. The item in question was a cat bed. Okay, I know you are wondering what is so special about cat beds; just about every pet owner buys one of these for their pets. It wasn’t the bed itself which made me thinking, it is the sheer number of attractive and stylish ones available in the market today. For those of you who feel like your cat’s don’t need a special bed and wouldn’t make much of difference, here are some major advantages of providing your kitty its own bed.
I know your cat likes to curl in his favorite spot and you generally relent but what you forget to notice is the coolness and hardness of your floors, especially in the winter season. Your cat too needs some warmth, and kitty beds are generally made of soft materials and will protect your kitty from the elements.
Apart from providing your cat with the luxury it deserves, the cat bed also has other practical purposes. I know you keep your pet clean but cats love to explore and if you allow your pets free rein, the possibility of fleas is always an issue. Having a washable bed helps getting rid of the fleas if there are any. Moreover, cat beds are quite easy to clean compared to cleaning your furniture’s. Don’t you agree?
If you are anything like my friend, your cat’s style and cuteness factor is also extremely important to you. With the wide styles of kitty bed available in the market today, you can choose one which compliments your cat’s personality perfectly (I hear you even get kitty beds with leopard prints). What would be a better way to make all the other cat owners envious about how cute and stylish your cat’s life is?!
These advantages hold no value if your cat still prefers to sleep on the floor or on the couch. The reasons why your cat might shun his bed can be quite simple. They either don’t like the location in which the beds are placed or are not particularly fond of the smell wafting from the bed. Observe and note what the problem seems to be. If the location seems to be the big turnoff for your cat, just move the bed to a place where your cat loves to curl up. Sometimes the way the bed smells also might be the cause for discomfort, if this is the case, just try wrapping the towel you generally use for the cat (for it to lie down) on the bed, it might work like a charm.
If you are still not convinced if your cat needs a bed, hit the stores and see the various models available, that is sure to change your mind.
