There are various facts about your cats that you are still unaware of. In this article we will share 15 things about your cat that are worth you knowing:

  1. Do you know that the front paw of your cat has five toes, and the back paw has four toes?
  2. In ancient Egypt, cats were used to protect the crops from insects as well as rats.
  3. In ancient Egypt, people worshipped cats and believed that cats were gods. They also mummified the cats after they died.
  4. The cats become ill when they eat sweet things because they are unable to detect sugar.
  5. In the olden days, cat litter was made from sand. However, in the late 1940s, it was revealed that clay had stronger absorbing qualities as compared to sand.
  6. The cat entrance flap doors that are very popular these days were first invented by Sir Isaac Newton.
  7. It must be worthy to know that your cat can’t see in the dark. Cats only see one-sixth of the light level.
  8. There are many famous people who hate cats, but one of the most famous cat haters was Adolf Hitler. Similarly, there are many famous people that are known as cat lovers such as Abraham Lincoln.
  9. When Abraham Lincoln was President of the USA, there were four cats in the White House.
  10. Did you know that you cat can purr as rapidly as a diesel engine? This frequency is around 26 purrs a second. Some of the other animals such as pigs, elephants, lemurs, and gorillas can also purr but not as fast as a cat.
  11. Cats have the ability to hear ultrasonic sounds. These sounds are used for communication purposes, but humans are unable to hear these sounds.
  12. A cat can squeeze easily to fit into tighter spaces. This is because the collarbone of the cat is not connected with any other bone.
  13. If you do not include taurine in the diet of your cat, it will become blind. Taurine is a type of amino acid that is important for many animals. Some of these animals produce taurine on their own, but when it comes to cats, you have to include it in the daily diet.
  14. You will be amazed to know that your cat runs faster than a Usain Bolt as the speed of a Usain is 27 MPH whereas the speed of an average domestic cat is 30 MPH.
  15. Be careful with your cat as it can produce electric shocks. There is a certain amount of static electricity available in the fur of most cats.
  16. Cats are one of the most popular pets we keep in homes, and there are millions of cat lovers available in the world. The above-mentioned 15 things about cats are helpful in improving your knowledge about cats, and now you can treat your cat in a better fashion.

WOW! These are surely interesting and some of them surprising! I didn’t know that there is a different between front paw and back. And I have always thought that cats have superb sight at night and that’s why they are more active at night.
