“I could never choose one favorite fantasy feline any more than I could choose one color over another. It is the profusion of personalities and the wild explosion of patterns all together that set my artistic imagination afire.

At the same time each and every feline is special in it’s own way. Just as real ones are. This is where I find the continuous joy in creating More cats.” Laurel Burch

Unfortunately Laurel Burch died in 2007 61. Since childhood she had an osteoporosis, a disease of weak bones. She could easily break her arm or any other bone. She broke her jaw while dining. Life was not easy, but she was bright inside and wanted to share that brightness with people.

Her joyful creative designs still warm many people.

Laurel Burch created brightly coloured images well known worldwide – cats, horses, birds, blossoms, undersea creatures, T-shirts, scarves, ceramics, fabrics, necklaces, earrings, coffee mugs, sweat shirts, posters, and many other things.

She wanted to create a place inside herself that was “beautiful, safe, colourful and happy.” Her images became her “bridges to people. I just wanted to pass on the joy of what I saw.”

“Her whole life was about creating beauty,” said Aarin Burch, the artist’s daughter. “To creating beauty – and to giving. I don’t know anyone who ever met her who didn’t walk away with something she gave them.”
