Guys from “People Helping Pets” shared this awesome song (or a poem). I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who ever had and loved cats. I dedicate this song to you today! Mrs Cat
Before I Was A Cat Mom
By Stevi Davis
(Based on Before I Was A Dog Mom by Carol Wat)
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unclawed, unfurred clothes.
I had cute little glass trinkets on shelves and on the coffee table
I had quiet conversations on the phone, and used my computer with ease.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got home.
And I never stepped in puke first thing in the morning.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I didn’t have to vacuum so often.
I never had to store Q-tips and rubberbands under lock and key
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, or chewies
Or invited the neighbor’s cat over to play.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I lived more spontaneously
I could leave for the weekend with no planning
I never worried about what was happening while I was away
I never spent long minutes reading over ingredients in the cat food aisle
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I didn’t worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags, toiletpaper, soap or deodorant were poisonous or dangerous.
And I had nice houseplants with all their leaves still attached
I didn’t have to put latches on cabinets
and I still had nice curtains
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I had never been shed on
Chewed on
Clawed at
Or pinched by kitten teeth.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts,
My body and mind.
And my possessions
I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow.
Or having my feet pounced.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged could affect my heart so deeply.
I never understood the spiritual value of purring
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I had never held a sleeping kitten just because I couldn’t put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn’t know how warm it feels inside to see a furry face in the window watching for me to come home.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Cat Mom:
I had never known
the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being….
