The Gold Coast is having a cat carnival on Saturday 7 October and Sunday 8 October 2017. The Carrara Cat Carnival is said to be the first-ever cat carnival event held in Australia.
The idea for a Cat Carnival came about after Mia Lee, the Marketing & Events Manager of Carrara Markets, visited a Pet Expo. Mia wanted to buy a few kitty goodies for her cat Minky at the Pet Expo. Only she ended up leaving empty handed.
Mia walked up and down every aisle of the Pet Expo only to see a huge focus on dogs but not a single stand-alone cat-orientated stand. This surprised Mia as Australia’s pet statistics shows that in Australia that there are as many cat owners as dog owners. Mia decided to do something about that. The Carrara Cat Carnival was born.
Mia Lee says, “I know a lot of people who love cats. They aren’t the stereotype Crazy Cat Lady types. The Carrara Cat Carnival promises to be the hipster version of a pet expo, a cat-atorium where pop culture meets cat culture.”
Whether you are looking for cat specialty products for your fur baby or wanting to stock up on some cat-centric merchandise for yourself, the Cat Carnival has sourced the best cat specialty exhibitors from around Australia.
If you are thinking of adding a new cat to your family, head to the carnival’s “Adoption Cats” area to meet adorable cats and kittens from RSPCA. They are waiting for a loving home!
Other highlights of the day include Internet-famous catmantoo’s cats Didga and Boomer, who will be showing off their cat skateboarding tricks, and Winston Smushface, an Instagram-famous Persian cat known for sticking out his tongue and sitting in human-like poses.
