10-year-old tabby cat Crockett went missing when Pauline and Bill Lowe, a 66-year old couple from Essex, UK, decided to donate an old three-seater sofa to a charity shop.
Charity workers collected the sofa and delivered it to the St Luke’s charity shop located in Grays, 27km from the Lowe’s house.
Nobody knew that Crockett the cat was trapped inside the sofa.
Pauline and Bill could not find the missing cat and were upset as the cat usually did not go anywhere.
Four days later they received a call from the shop manager and found that the beloved family cat was with the new sofa owners.
All that time the cat was hiding unnoticed in the three-seater.
A couple bought the sofa and it went to their home. Later they heard meowing and called the charity shop manager Jenny Munro.
Customers told Jenny that they were delighted with the sofa but it had a cat inside. To release the cat they had to rip the material under the sofa.
Crockett the cat travelled back to Lowes and reunited with the family and the cat Tubbs, the second family cat.
The cat’s health was not affected by this adventure.
The cat owners think that the cat sneaked inside the sofa while it was taken apart to be removed from the house.
