H How to know what are the top cat names in Australia? Right, ask a company who produces pet tags!

Bow Wow Meow was established in 1995 and provides pet tags to over 2,500 pet stores and vets across the Asia Pacific. Surely they know what the top cat names in Australia are! =^.^=

According to their statistics the Top 20 Cat Names in Australia are:

  • 1 Oscar
  • 2 Max
  • 3 Tiger
  • 4 Sam
  • 5 Misty
  • 6 Simba
  • 7 Coco
  • 8 Chloe
  • 9 Lucy
  • 10 Missy
  • 11 Molly
  • 12 Tigger
  • 13 Smokey
  • 14 Milo
  • 15 Cleo

Do You Know?

In Germany, “exotic English and other non-German names are popular with German pet owners”, according to an article in the About.com website.

Typical, cliched names for cats in Germany include that language’s equivalent for “kitty”, Mieze or Miezekatze (“pussycat”).

Muschi was also quite common and carries the same meanings as “pussy” in English, which led to its sharp decline as a popular name in the last 20 years.

=^.^= Thank you for a permission to use a photo of your wonderful cat and letting us know the name!
We updated the description with Linus name.

Would you like to tell us a bit more about Linus?
How old is he, does he like to be indoors or outdoors?
What is that special tag he wears?

We would be very happy to feature Lindus in Ozzi Cat Magazine.
If you like the idea, please drop me a line at “Cat @ OzziCat.com.au” or use our publish form:

      Thanks a lot again!

Natalie, Linus is six years old and lives with his sister Ada in Oslo, Norway. Although we live in a peaceful park, Linus is cautious by nature and prefers to stay very close to home or inside. He is a friendly fellow who loves to cuddle up near me (I’m his special human, while Ada has chosen my wife) and purrs when I rub his stomach.

The tag he is wearing is a Loc8tor radio locating device. You can buy them at loc8tor.co.uk, very handy for those times when we need the cats inside and they are to far away to respond to our calls (I’ve managed to recall train Linus pretty well, which astounds our neighbours!)

Anyway, I’d be more than happy to have him profiled in your magazine. I can be reached at the email address given with my posting, or my Twitter account. :)
